Yes this novel was very thought prevoking. I was really amazed by the amount of information and tourist attractions. We can see that Dan Brown has really promoted all of these places, and people immediatly are travelling to Paris to see all the sights in the book. It's cool to imagine. I kinda want to go to Paris now. Maybe I'll find another book about crazy things in Paris so I don't have to hail Dan Brown. He is rather cheesy. I suppose that's okay, I eat cheese on everything. I know that he puts credits in his book and references, ect. but I think the book should've been "The Davinci Code" by Dan Brown and ________, whatever her name is, Mrs. Brown. See. nobody knows her name even. I might find it in the book... but will I remember it? Maybe not, cause I didn't.

Anywho.

I also enjoyed the recognition of womban in this book.

I never knew about the whole Mary Magdalane tale. I find it, well, aggravating, that woman in history are referred to as seductive and sinful. This is why women have been made men's objects over the pass 2000 years of our human life, thats our justification. Eve bit the apple, now all of our ladies are sinners. It's absolutley appolling. Even Cleopatra apparently 'got around'. I hope this book influenced as many people about the appreciation of WOMBAN, as well as it did influence them to travel Paris.

Darfur

I found out about Darfur by my friend in art class last semester. Once we watched the movie I can't help to be restless half way through... we sit here watching ... bystanding ... doing nothing.. feeling powerless... makes me angry. globally we are wealthy beyond measure.... spending our time, our money, our energy on all of the wrong things.. all of the wrong things. this world is soo large... and so complicated and discreet... nobody really understands what they're supporting daily... with the food they eat, the clothes they wear... they don't know what the companies that they support, are actually supporting. i definitely need to do more research on this kind of thing... everyday we take absolutely everything for granted. i am so glad that i had breakfast this morning... i am so glad that i can eat when i want, and have access to drinkable water!! basic luxuries we need to appreciate. people are dying across the world..and being forced into conditions incomprehendable to our lifestyle. they are starving. they are being tortured. they are being raped..... and we turn to our own affairs...what else can we do?

Well I did enjoy myself, I learned a little and had fun... but I was really dissapointed. I figured I could pick and choose the workshops that fit my interests..... not physics. definitely not phyics. I was very excited to do the workshop about athletic injuries.. i can't recall the title, but it had something to do with that. i wanted to learn more about the muscles in our body because of all the physio i've been doing over the past couple years... i did get to use the altrasound on my knee, so i could see the screw inside.. it was pretty sweet, so i was content with that... the crab man was hillarious.. maybe if he didn't mean to be, but i thought he was great... the biotron was cool. scary. very scary. kinda reminds me of a top secret organisation that only certain members have access too... never know what kind of experiments could be there... especially when our expert started talking about the level 4 hazard areas.... it was incredible being able to see the lab in the process of being finished... i bet someone has to work very hard to be able to work in the biotron...

Oak Island Mystery...ouuuu

Preservation is very important during excavation and studies underground.. in the case of Oak Island, it seems to me that we have demolished the land and any clues that we would find valuable and prominent to finding the mystery that people have been losing their minds for... I think that if we saved some of the work for later on in life when we have more advanced technologoy, we would not be struggling so frantically. It's kind of ridiculous. Once we start panicing and getting frusterated, ect... it takes away from the concentration and focus... usually when we think to hard on something, we lead ourselvse so far off the path that we originally came from. Some times first instincts are the right ones... like.. for example... clay. we can use a little water to re-dampen it when it gets dry, but after molding it to much the clay just falls apart. I beleive that we've done so much digging and drilling that we'll drown the island before we find the "treasure".

Valentines Day

valentines day... valentines day... to me means...
not a whole lot, it's kind of a cute holiday... kind of a money-making, hallmark holiday.

Agreed. When children are talented in certain areas, they need to express their skills and use their abilities to the utmost extent. We've stopped thinking for ourselves... our work is made up of nothing but what is asked for. We're not educated to think outside the box, we're educated into essays and our education is already in a template for us.

Creativity is a long, ever changing road in the education system that has been blocked
off and bordered for too long. Sir Ken Robinson gives a few examples of children being creative and confident. One example is a little boy in a school play that messes up his lines. He makes up his lines when it's his turn to talk, despite the fact that he knows he isn't right. Children are confident in themselves to go through life and make mistakes.. and ten years later we feel this peer pressure that has been forced into our brains ... that a mistake is the worse thing you can make in life. If we keep living this way...we're not going to get too far

One aspect of Sir Ken's speech which I really enjoyed was when he mentions a common misconception... that you're either creative or not. This is so wrong! Everyone has their own style and way of using their creativity.
Maybe Amy can't sketch an amazing portrait but she can sure as hell design a pair of jeans! Maybe photography isn't Josh's thing but he can really organize his room creative and neat.
Everyone has creativity... it is shown through different things. "Intelligence is distinct."

One more note.. Sir Ken Robinson does a great job addressing important issues from his perspective. He uses his own stature with knowledge, humor, and understanding. We know that Sir Ken Robinson is a University Professor.. but he doesn't want the education system to produce 1000 of him... he really expresses that each person has their own distinct intelligence.
